VW Microbus
2.6i Caravelle Exclusiv

Not only does the VW Bus have all the room, but the Vroom!

That’s the 2.6i Caravelle pictured here. But let’s start with the 2.3i Microbus. Which, although the smallest-engined member of the family, still has all you need to help you over the highest berg. The 5 cylinder 2.6i Microbus and Caravelle (and their Exclusive derivatives) don’t just have a little extra. They have a whole lot more. 100kW at 5200 r/min. And 0-100km/h in 14.5 seconds. And with rear wheel drive and loads of torque, the VW Bus is the perfect towing vehicle. All transferred by a 4-speed manual transmission in the other models. Underneath, there’s Volkswagen’s legendary German-engineered suspension. With wishbone and anti-roll bar in the front, and semi-trailing arm suspension in the rear, to give sure-footed roadholding and rock-steady handling.

Ask any Bus driver (or passenger for that matter) and they’ll tell you how confidently it hugs the tarmac, even around the tightest of corners. And on the straight, flies true as an arrow. What’s more, with power steering standard and a turning circle only centimetres wider than a Golf, it not only drives like a car but, thankfully, as you’ll find around town, parks like one too.
